Notice before you start controlling your mind
Before you read this article, I just want to clear one thing about myself. You might feel like you are wasting your time. Although I am writing on a topic about how to control your mind but honestly, I am also in the basic stage of controlling my mind. If it can be measurable in percentage in my own point of view, I would have probably learned only 0.5 percent out of 100 percent. But before practicing on controlling my mind I used to control 0.4 percent. As you can see that the numbers are pretty much same, but I can proudly say that I am growing. By the time I finish this article it will help me to grow more. It’s because I know some of the few and suitable technique to do it which I am constantly working on it. Therefore, now you know that I also can’t really control my mind, so, you decide whether it is worth reading or not.
Importance of Mind
Any human can control their mind. We can achieve it without leaving the things that we have, without going to the temple or doing mediation for 12 hours a day in the middle of jungle or Himalayas. However, I think it is one of the most difficult goals to achieve and still the most important goal that should be achieved by every single human. Once we able to control our mind, we will also able to rule the world. Those powers are way bigger than Goku, Saitama and even Thanos powers.
I don’t read any books; although I have my own religion I did not stick to the rules of it and I took it very lightly. However, I do follow one person who is one of the biggest public speaker on YouTube. The things that I am going to share about controlling our mind reflect the ideas of that person. I have been listening to that person for more than 2 years but I still believe that I am in the very basic stage of controlling mind. It’s mainly because I am not putting enough effort to change myself.
What is a MIND
If you are still alive after reading my disaster article and still think that you can survive after reading further , let’s talk about the main topic of this article which is called “MIND”. Have you ever asked yourself about what really is mind? If you did, did you find the question of this answer on the basis of fact or it’s just your belief? For example, “we human beings live on earth”, “the sun rise from the east”, “we need oxygen to breath”, all of these things are a facts. There is no human being who disagrees with this sentence. Therefore, we must be able to identify the facts about the definition that we have in our mind and always believe only in those things which is agreeable and true for everyone.
If I need to describe how to control your mind in just one word, I will say that it is nothing but “AWARENESS”. And sorry to disappoint you but I am also saying this on the basis of belief. I have already told you before that I am also a beginner to achieve this goal. But my belief makes a lot more sense. It might sound weird but what I am trying to say is that awareness is the main reason to control our mind. Awareness means realizing and analyzing our thought. Now this leads to another question, what is a thought? Thought is nothing but talking to ourselves. Almost every people in this world don’t even realize that they are doing self chattering and 90 percent of thoughts are not even related with their work. It is estimated that an average brain has around 50,000 to 70,000 thoughts come in one day and the sad thing is that people did not even realize that it is happening. We always get lost in the world of thoughts. The thought that normally comes in our mind is about past and the future. For example, future thoughts such as: what am I going to do if I get fail in this exam or what will happen if she leaves me and the past thoughts such as: I would be so happy if I had chosen MBA instead of doing Nursing. These are the examples of negative thoughts but there are positive thoughts as well. All of these thoughts are nothing but a time killer. Each and every thought is useless (including positive thought) which is not related with the work that we are currently doing. It did not matter how bad or good that thought is, if it is not related with our work , it’s not good at all. Therefore, awareness is the only solution to remove these thoughts from our mind and keeping ourselves in the present moment all the time. We know what we are thinking all the time, only we will be able to control our mind exactly in the way we want.
Methods of controlling Mind
It is very difficult to put yourself into the state of awareness completely but the step to do is super simple. There is no physical effort or any mental pressure to do it. I would like you to do something first. I want you to stay silent or not to talk with anyone includes yourself for a minute.
After one minute
Now ask yourself about the things that you just think. Try to remember each and every thought that comes into your mind during these times. By doing this we will come to know that mind is nothing but talking to ourselves. We did not talk with ourselves there will be no problem. For example deer in the jungle never face any anxiety thinking about what will happen to their future if they got eaten by the tiger. They also have mind and they also communicate through language but their language is simple and they use the language only to communicate with others when they got attack or when it is necessary. Besides that, they never talk to themselves and never go into depression. But we human have a strong power to use language in a way that we want. And almost every people did not realize that they are using their language in a very wrong way. We stop talking unnecessary things to ourselves and realize about what are we doing exactly in each and every moment, we are in awareness. There are few points about how we can put ourselves into awareness and finally we can use that awareness to control our mind. But we need a lot of patience and practice putting ourselves into the state of awareness completely. According to the person whom I follow, young generation people (around 15-40 years old) are more likely to learn quickly about it in compare to the older ones (40 and above).
1. Set a small target
We cannot just snap a finger and change ourselves. We need a lot of patience and we should never give us a challenge which is hard to achieve. In the beginning stages stay silent for just two minutes and try to remember each and every word that you speak with yourselves. Do it once in a day but every single day. Try to analyze all the self chattering that you do with yourselves in that two minutes. Doing only for two minutes in a day is super easy. We give ourselves a big task such as running daily for 1 hour, most of us stop doing it after few days. The reason for this is our subconscious mind is very strong than our conscious mind and its impossible for this weak conscious mind to beat subconscious. So, try giving yourself a small task such as running only for 5 minutes. This way, it will become very easy to do the task and our subconscious mind doesn’t even know about it.
After setting a target try to do the same thing in the exact same time on a regular basis it will become a habit. Do not skip even a single day because of other reasons. Our subconscious mind works in such a way that if we make a habit of getting pleasure, whether it is from a positive task or negative task it seeks to get it again and again. Hence, we must be able to make it a habit.
3. Increase the level
After making a successful habit, it’s time to increase the time limit of that task. The pleasure will not be there if we do the same thing again and again. Our subconscious mind needs more and more pleasure to stay on the right track. Thus, after achieving the task that you set for yourself, focus on increasing the time limit for a certain period.
The main point of doing all these things is to understand. One must understand very well about what they are really doing. Controlling our mind is also ultimately related with the understanding. We really want to achieve our goal, understanding about that goal is mandatory.
